soldierMoven enables entirely new training & simulation systems. Users wearing a Moven suit can be immersed in a virtual environment, interacting in real-time with the environment and each other.

Crucial for such applications are the real-time behavior and the freedom to use the system in any environment, with trainees moving in and between objects. Moven is well suited for real-time applications, as it produces high-quality mocap data on-the-fly, without data cleaning or post-processing required. Getting access to the realtime mocap data is very easy by using the Moven SDK. Moven can be used anywhere, indoors as well as outdoors, and also clothing can be worn over the system.

The Dismounted Trainer is a unique system that allows users to receive immersive virtual training, while using their own body as method of interaction with the virtual world and other participants. When a user wants to walk, or run, to a certain area in the virtual environment, this is accomplished by running or walking in real life. The most important aspect of this trainer is natural interaction, to optimize the learning process.

The system allows the instructor to view training from different viewpoints, without disturbing the trainees during their activities (stealth). Trainees Dismounted trainercan roam about freely in an indoor or outdoor area, due to the fully wireless setup of the system.

The Dismounted Soldier Trainer is in use for research on Military Operations on Urbanized Terrain (MOUT) operations, which is a Re-lion project in cooperation with TNO and the Royal Netherlands Army. Training other tasks, such as flight deck training, fire fighting maintenance, repair and overhaul are also the possibilities.
