Moven enables scientists and medical staff to investigate and develop new tools and methods to improve rehabilitation processes. Problems with human locomotion ask for flexible, ambulant systems to measure body movement in any situation. Moven meets these requirements: it is an easy-to-use, fully ambulant and highly accurate motion capture system.
Since the entire measurement system is worn on the body, every movement the patient makes is captured. This offers a major advantage over systems that are limited to a measurement volume e.g. in gait analysis. The latter usually requires the patient to walk 10 or more steps for every one that is recorded. With Moven, every step the patient makes can be used for analysis thereby limiting the fatigue from walking up and down the motion lab.
Moven comes in configurations for full body, lower body or upper body to allow
for specific applications that are focused on legs or arms.
Xsens participates in the FreeMotion project with Roessingh Research and Development and other partners. FreeMotion researches accurate and reliable methods of ambulatory motion analysis to provide practical decision making tools to a large group of professionals in healthcare, ergonomics and sports.
